WORKERS COMPENSATION FAQ

Common questions about your claim.

Your GP referral or Certificate of Capacity, your claim number, your insurer’s name, and your case manager’s name and contact details if you have them. It’s also worth bringing the date of your injury and any relevant imaging (X-rays, scans) if you’ve had them done. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that makes it easy for us to assess the injured area. If you’re missing any of these, get in touch before your appointment and we can talk you through next steps.
Yes — you’ll need a referral from your GP confirming physiotherapy is appropriate for your injury. In Western Australia this is generally documented through a Certificate of Capacity, which your doctor completes and should specifically note physiotherapy as part of your recommended treatment. If you’re unsure where you’re at in the process, give us a call and we can help point you in the right direction.
For approved treatment, generally no — we bill your insurer directly, so there’s no gap fee for you to cover. Treatment outside of what’s been approved in your plan would be your responsibility, so it’s always worth confirming what’s covered with your insurer or case manager if you’re unsure.
Yes — as an injured worker, the choice of physiotherapist is generally yours, even if your doctor or employer suggests someone. It’s worth confirming with us before your first visit that we’re set up to accept your particular workers compensation or insurance claim.
This depends on your state’s guidelines and your specific claim — some allow a handful of early sessions to proceed once your claim number is issued, without extra paperwork. Beyond that, we submit a treatment plan to your insurer outlining your progress and the further sessions we’re recommending, which they’ll review for approval. We handle this reporting as part of your treatment, so you don’t have to manage it yourself.
Often, yes, though it depends on your insurer. Some workers choose to start treatment privately and seek reimbursement once their claim is approved — just keep in mind that if a claim is ultimately declined, you’d remain responsible for those costs. We’d recommend confirming your options with your insurer or case manager first, and we’re happy to help liaise once you’re ready to start.
Generally, insurers will only fund one type of allied health treatment at a time — for example, physiotherapy or chiropractic care, rather than both concurrently — so your progress can be clearly tracked. If you’re receiving other treatment, it’s worth mentioning this to us and your insurer so everyone’s on the same page.
