Sports Physiotherapy.
It’s all about getting you back On Form.
Our mission at On Form Physio is to help get you to the start of your event in the best possible shape and fitness possible.
Our Sports physiotherapy service combines the detailed understanding of physical performance with anatomy, physiology and biomechanics to provide athletes a pain free and physically optimal way of being able to achieve in their given physical activities.
Our sports physiotherapy services are designed to help athletes of all levels - recreational to world class; beginners or experienced, all of whom want to achieve their physical best without being hampered by pain.
Here is a quick explanation of our sports physio methodology:
Restore
Restore normal, pain free movement as quickly as possible
Reduce pain and dysfunction around the injured region
Rebuild
Investigate the why - is there a risk factor present that has led to the pain and dysfunction?
Strengthen neuromuscular connections - balance, coordination, muscle firing patterns, movement techniques that make for quality movement and performance
Retrain
Improve the physical qualities that help an athlete perform to their best ability in their chosen sport
Collaboration and communication between our team and your coaches, trainers and/or managers is a paramount part of this phase to ensure a smooth and trouble-free return to sport.
What is the difference between
Sports Physio and Normal Physio?
The classical physiotherapy treatment techniques you have experienced in the past are used in sports physiotherapy.
Where the difference lies is in your physical assessment and the performance testing benchmarks set for an athlete to return to participation .
This includes testing in fine detail physical capacities such as:
Strength
Endurance
Aerobic fitness
Power
Balance
Agility
Technique
Play well pain free.
Once an athlete’s physical abilities have been evaluated, these are compared to what is required to successfully take part in their chosen activity in a pain- and injury-free way. If you’re returning from a severe injury and time off sport, our Sports Physios use these benchmarks as guidance for when you’re physically ready to return to playing.
If you’ve sustained a sports related injury without a known cause, understanding if an athlete’s physical capacity is lacking in one of these areas can normally be a source of the problem.
The Sports Physiotherapists at On Form Physio have the advanced education and experience in comprehensive assessment, treatment and the best practice performance benchmarks across a wide range of sports to help athletes achieve their best in whatever their next activity may be.
